Our Story
AKA Engineering Company is a civil engineering consulting firm, licensed in California and Hawai’i. AKA is a unique partnership of a husband wife team, Anna & Keone Kauo, who bring over thirty years of combined experience. AKA Engineering Company is a small, women owned business established in Pismo Beach, California in 2019.

Meet Our Team
Owner + Project Manager
Anna Kauo, PE
Anna is from California and lived part of her childhood in Nigeria. She received her civil engineering degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in California while playing on the nationally ranked D1 NCAA women's soccer team. Before forming AKA Engineering Company, she worked as a project manager for various private civil engineering firms throughout California.
As the firm owner and project manager, Anna is committed throughout the life of each project. Anna combines the experience and knowledge of a senior level project manager with a technical background and ability of a project engineer and drafter. With twenty years of experience in planning, design and construction of land development, transportation, utility, and energy projects, she has built a reputation of assisting clients in reaching their goals by completing projects with aggressive schedules and tight budgets. She intentionally works to regularly communicate progress and critical design decisions with clients and team members. Over the years, she has become an expert in ADA compliance code principles, roadway rehabilitation, site grading, stormwater management and utility design.

Project Manager
Keone Kahanamoku Kauo, PE
Having worked for international corporations and small local firms as a project manager, Keone has been involved with various private and public project types from initial planning stages, through final design and construction completion. His experiences have shaped his understanding of the necessary steps to take good projects to great projects while building a trusting relationship with his clients.
Keone leads the Hawaii service markets for AKA Engineering Company. Having the opportunity to serve the kaiaulu from which the Kauo Ohana originated from is a special blessing to Keone. He looks forward to serving both the kama'aina and kanaka to bring aloha to all who call Hawai'i home.
